Message	the pan? Do you put RTV on the block as well? Otherwise that comment confuses me. For what it's worth, the Nissan FSM does indeed show the bead on the inside half of the pan flange. I imagine this was to ensure that no oil escaped through the oil pan bolts themselves. This shouldn't be a problem assuming I put the RTV around the hole as you suggested.
